ST6000DM001 not fitting in Drobo 5C
I was moving 2 6TB seagate drives and one 6TB red from my Qnap to new Drobo 5C. The red drive fit just fine, but the neither of the 6TB seagates will click into the slots. Has anyone see this? I feel them power up, but the drive says empty and flashes red. I'm assuming since they are properly seated.
I've tried both in 3 different slots.
both of these drives were in a 5N at one point just fine.

RE: ST6000DM001 not fitting in Drobo 5C
hi revaaron,
can you see if there are any sticky labels (like serial numbers and model info) that maybe were on the drive but came off and are lodged somewhere?
(it might be best to shutdown the drobo and to unplug power and then to shine a torch or something just in case a label came off in the bay? (or possibly some rubber feet that some drives have attached to reduce vibrations, that somehow became loose or the glue melted in the heat and they became unstuck?)

(btw i have XP home SP2, a Drobo v1 with 2x 1TB/2x 1.5TB WD greens, & a bkp Drobo v2 with the same + a DroboShare: unused)
& a DroboS v2 with 3xWD15EADS &2x1TB in DDR mode on win7, & a drobo5D (all usb)
  • btw i did a sustained (write) operation for about 6 hours, and got 13.2MB / sec ...objection? "sustained" :)
    (16.7MB/s on a v2 & 47-96MB/s drobo-s)
