Drobo FS stuck in boot up
I have had no luck getting my Drobo FS to boot up fully. It will stay stuck in the final steps endlessly.

Any pointers on what to try? I did the normal reboot the Drobo and the computer business.

Thanks,
Tim

RE: Drobo FS stuck in boot up
hi tim can i check if the getting stuck in the final steps means that it is possibly rebooting and going through the same motions?

if it is a reboot loop and having problems with some drives, you might be able to try putting the drobo into a read only mode, for example as mentioned here, which might help to stabalise it a bit to at least hopefully access the data:

(though if that does not work it may also be worth raising a ticket with the support team, a bit like a pay-per-incident which i believe can still be raised if you would wish, even if out of support, and some more info about it can be found here:

(btw i have XP home SP2, a Drobo v1 with 2x 1TB/2x 1.5TB WD greens, & a bkp Drobo v2 with the same + a DroboShare: unused)
& a DroboS v2 with 3xWD15EADS &2x1TB in DDR mode on win7, & a drobo5D (all usb)
  • btw i did a sustained (write) operation for about 6 hours, and got 13.2MB / sec ...objection? "sustained" :)
    (16.7MB/s on a v2 & 47-96MB/s drobo-s)

I tried the read only but still stuck staying "Your Drobo is in the final stage of starting up. This may take up to 5 minutes."

RE: Drobo FS stuck in boot up
ah thanks for trying that tim,
can you remember how much data you have on your drobo?
(if it seems to be active, with the drives chattering away, another option could be to try waiting for about 1 day per 1TB of data that you have on it, just in case there was something wrong and it is correcting and verifying data),

though if it still does not work or progress after that, then another option could be to try fully powering off, for about 15minutes, (with all cables unplugged), and then to try powering up the unconnected drobo...
what happens now? (does it boot up with the blue led lights, maybe taking slightly longer, bit then ultimately going into a standby mode?)

if so, if you then try powering up the computer, and dashboard, and then connecting the drobo again, does it wake up shortly after and become recognised again?
