Why no Thunderbolt3?

Why no Thunderbolt3?
Today I see that Drobo has announced a new DAS drobo product: the Drobo 5C. The good news, it uses a USB-C connector. The bad news is, as far as I can tell, it only supports USB 3 over this connector, not Thunderbolt 3. USB 3 maxes out at 10 G/s whereas Thunderbolt 2 (the interface on the Drobo 5Dt) maxes out at 20 G/s, and Thunderbolt 3 maxes out at 40 G/s. Thunderbolt also supports more powerful charging, target mode, and daisychaining configurations.

Should we be disappointed that Drobo chose USB 3.0 over USB-C instead of Thunderbolt 3 over USB-C, a protocol only half as fast, for the newest product? Will we see a Drobo 5Ct in a few months that gives us top of the line performance?

RE: Why no Thunderbolt3?
Yea, I ask myself this question, strange strategy imho.

Drobe 2:nd gen, Drobo 5N & Drobo 5D
English is a funny language, seldom it spells the words like I do.
