Drobo S + Time Machine
I have the Drobo S 5-Bays bought couple of years ago and I would like to use it as a Time Machine in my OS X El Capitan.

Drobo Tech Support sent me the "guide for setting up TimeMachine in combination with an older Drobo model" on this link:

Problem is, this link has instructions based in OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, not El Capitan. El Capitan "Disk Utility" has no "New Image" option, neither Mac OS Extended (Journaled) formatting option. So, this guide doesn't work for me.

Does anyone know how to set the Drobo S as Time Machine using OS X El Capitan? or it is not possible?

Many thanks for your help!

RE: Drobo S + Time Machine
hi i have not carried this out myself, but this page may help you regarding sparsebundles:
theres an image there near the top, though this might be the one you are not able to see?

(btw i have XP home SP2, a Drobo v1 with 2x 1TB/2x 1.5TB WD greens, & a bkp Drobo v2 with the same + a DroboShare: unused)
& a DroboS v2 with 3xWD15EADS &2x1TB in DDR mode on win7, & a drobo5D (all usb)
  • btw i did a sustained (write) operation for about 6 hours, and got 13.2MB / sec ...objection? "sustained" :)
    (16.7MB/s on a v2 & 47-96MB/s drobo-s)
