2 SSDs and 3 HDDs
Hi Drobo. I am looking to setup something slightly unusual.

I have 2 840 Pro 2tb ssds, and will have 3 HDDs, size TBD. I am hoping I can achieve using both SSDs for caching or something similar, and the HDDs for redundancy, and extra storage.

I originally envisioned a setup of SSDs operating as JBOD, with nightly mirrors to a 4TB disk, the other two bays eventually being used as bulk mirrored storage. That setup would provide 4 tb worth of fast access storage, and back them up with a frequency I am happy enough with.

Can the Drobo 5D do this? Is there a better setup to use that still utilizes both SSDs, or am I at best stuck with using 1 as a cache drive?

Thanks

RE: 2 SSDs and 3 HDDs
you can put those in your drobo - but it wont use them for caching, it will just spread the data over all the disks

as for the JBOD / mirroring / etc

Drobo wont do any of that - it is totally automatic and just spreads the data around

5D CPU and i/o is not fast enough to take advantage of SSDs. Not worth it.
