RE: Mac OSX Sierra and Drobo 5D Firewire
thanks for the screenshots claude,
your drobo looks ok with green lights, and you seem to have lots of free space....

you might have already tried this, but have you tried using dashboard to shutdown the drobo (after stopping or finishing any copying)
and to unplug the firewire cable,
and to reboot the mac
and to start dashboard again
and to then power up the drobo and to let it bootup with its blue lights (from 1 through to 10)
and when it goes into standby mode
to then connect the drobo directly to the mac computer via usb (for example not into a monitor)
(does the drobo wake up soon after, and then become recognised again in dashboard and the mac, and are things better?)

did you check to see if spotlight is indexing the drobo? (you might need to disable that if you can)

also, when you are not copying anything, if you have access to diskwarrior, it might be worth trying to see if it finds any issues on the drobo-s?

(btw i have XP home SP2, a Drobo v1 with 2x 1TB/2x 1.5TB WD greens, & a bkp Drobo v2 with the same + a DroboShare: unused)
& a DroboS v2 with 3xWD15EADS &2x1TB in DDR mode on win7, & a drobo5D (all usb)
  • btw i did a sustained (write) operation for about 6 hours, and got 13.2MB / sec ...objection? "sustained" :)
    (16.7MB/s on a v2 & 47-96MB/s drobo-s)
