5D suddenly showing as 100% full and not mounting
Drobo Dashboard is showing the drive as 100% full, despite the lights on the front being green (one is amber). I know one of the drives is getting close to full, but there was still plenty of space as of last night.

This morning, the 5D is no longer appearing in Finder or Disk Utility, but still showing in Drobo Dashboard.

Updated all firmware manually, to ensure it's the latest version. Rebooted both the Drobo and Mac several times - still nothing in Finder or Disk Utility.

Don't understand why it's showing as 100% full when it was nowhere near that. Could that be why it's not mounting?

RE: 5D suddenly showing as 100% full and not mounting
hi vbloke,
would you be able to have a look at the bottom blue lights of your drobo when you get a chance, to see how many blue led lights are lit up. (am just wodering if those are also showing all ten lit up?)

can you also remember if there are any other programs that might have possibly been able to use the drobo as a temp storage area (such as some programs use it when creating compressed archives or installing things), and where there any other programms running that might have used the drobo the other night?

are you also having any backups being made, or any databases being created and updated (such as lightroom or itunes etc?) maybe one of those 'running programs' was saving files to the drobo during the night?

if the dashboard can still see the drobo though, that is usually a better sign (as a broken drobo unit usually doesnt even appear there) but if you can try stopping any other programs from using the drobo, and then have a look in the mac disk maintenance utils, maybe that can find some other filesystem problems as being present?

for example, some mounting problems can be fixed via disk utility (or cocktail) or diskwarrior on the directly attached DAS models such as a 5d. (maybe it can correct a misreported file that is trying to use more space then it would, and maybe that is what is showing it eating up all the space)

are you using any other virtual disks or timemachine files at all?

(btw i have XP home SP2, a Drobo v1 with 2x 1TB/2x 1.5TB WD greens, & a bkp Drobo v2 with the same + a DroboShare: unused)
& a DroboS v2 with 3xWD15EADS &2x1TB in DDR mode on win7, & a drobo5D (all usb)
  • btw i did a sustained (write) operation for about 6 hours, and got 13.2MB / sec ...objection? "sustained" :)
    (16.7MB/s on a v2 & 47-96MB/s drobo-s)
