Programatically (.NET) determine free space??
Is there a way to programatically determine the free space on a network-connected Drobo (FS, 5N, etc) thru .NET?

RE: Programatically (.NET) determine free space??
hi, im not sure of an exact way, but i seem to remember even the early versions of 1.x dashboards (on windows at least) using .net for dashboard. (at least that is what process explorer showed me at the time)

(btw i have XP home SP2, a Drobo v1 with 2x 1TB/2x 1.5TB WD greens, & a bkp Drobo v2 with the same + a DroboShare: unused)
& a DroboS v2 with 3xWD15EADS &2x1TB in DDR mode on win7, & a drobo5D (all usb)
  • btw i did a sustained (write) operation for about 6 hours, and got 13.2MB / sec ...objection? "sustained" :)
    (16.7MB/s on a v2 & 47-96MB/s drobo-s)

I've tried a number of different ways, but can't seem to get any stats on the Drobo drives.

RE: Programatically (.NET) determine free space??
btw is there a particular scenario for your objective?
for example, are you trying to obtain free space (without a computer attached) so that all your hosts do not need dashboard installed? (or would a computer be available as well, in which case there might be another way to get free space)

RE: Programatically (.NET) determine free space??
If you are on a recent firmware (I think 3.2.3 and up) you can call:
Code:
/usr/bin/esa vxphyscapacity
... to get the full capacity, and:
Code:
/usr/bin/esa vxusedcapacity
... to get the used capacity.

I don't think there is a library that you can call to get these numbers.

Tap the full potential of the Drobo FS/5N with DroboApps.
