RE: ALL DRIVES CRITICAL - RED
hi yerry, if you can try to wait a week (or at least the end of this week) and to check the ticket again, and if not its understandable to take that action. (and if any other ideas come to mind i will certainly post them for you)
(edit: ok thanks yerry)

I Left a "Is there any hope" question in the ticket, I will wait a week and then move on if there is no response.

Thanks Paul for all your help.

RE: ALL DRIVES CRITICAL - RED
Hi everyone

Two days ago I gave the clones to a "friend" that works on a recovery company, he was able to access the data and showed me some pictures I took months ago and a directory structure.

The problem is that is charging me 3K to recover the data, and I have to ask... is this a fair price? he didn't opened the disks or performed an extensive recovery operation Sad

RE: ALL DRIVES CRITICAL - RED
hi yerry,
i saw just over a year ago some prices ranging from $3k to $10k but if you can try to find out how long it took him to actually recover those files he showed you, you might be able to work out how long the rest might possiby take?

maybe some options could be
- to try to become more friendly with them (no joke) Smile maybe talking with them about the possibilities of large discount due to more potential future business if your problem can become a success story for them.
- to try to find out what they use (maybe at smaller cost) so that you can spend the actual time doing it yourself, so that they do not have to spend so many hours or tie up the use of their machines for so many chargeable hours.
- or maybe, if they can not reduce their cost, maybe you could more selectively ask them to recover just certain folders for you (such as just the ones that have unique data that you can not recreate, such as family photos or accounts etc)?

(btw i have XP home SP2, a Drobo v1 with 2x 1TB/2x 1.5TB WD greens, & a bkp Drobo v2 with the same + a DroboShare: unused)

Thanks Paul.

Is just that I spent so much buying the clones and can't afford 3K Sad

I will see my options, and be nice with them.

But.... since they could see and recover some data, is there a possibility that I can that the drives to work on the Drobo?

RE: ALL DRIVES CRITICAL - RED
UPDATE:

Yesterday one of the Drobo Tech support specialist asked me to send the clone drives, he didn't make any promises obviously but I feel he is doing the best he can to help me.

I assume (fingers crossed) he will be able to recover my data because my friend was able to view the data and sent me one of my pictures.

Again I want to thank you all for your help.
