It is, for the reason Paul stated. No data is stored in the SSD alone, thus making it a read cache only.

What you get from mSATA card is massive irregularity and spiking in speeds. Take it out for more predictable performance. It just doesn't work very well. In theory it should speed up random I/O but really it doesn't. The 5D internals are the bottleneck.
