DroboFS File sizes
trying to transfer some larger sized Final Cut Pro X Libraries (around 150GB) back to local hd and getting error saying there isn't enough space on the hd i'm transferring to. Yes, there is plenty of space on there. Was transferring an 8GB file and noticed during the transfer on the status bar the file size was in the hundreds of gigabytes. why does my computer think these files are so much larger than they are? what can i do about this?

RE: DroboFS File sizes
hi, can i check if i understood something..

is your library file (150GB) currently on the drobo.
and you want to copy it and paste it to your internal mac drive
and the mac internal drive currently has say 200gb or more free space?

is final cut fully closed down when you try this?

maybe you could try to close down what you dont need running, and to them try a mac file properties on the 8GB file, to see what it shows, and then to try and copy and paste that to mac internal drive? does it have the same effect?

(btw i have XP home SP2, a Drobo v1 with 2x 1TB/2x 1.5TB WD greens, & a bkp Drobo v2 with the same + a DroboShare: unused)
& a DroboS v2 with 3xWD15EADS &2x1TB in DDR mode on win7, & a drobo5D (all usb)
  • btw i did a sustained (write) operation for about 6 hours, and got 13.2MB / sec ...objection? "sustained" :)
    (16.7MB/s on a v2 & 47-96MB/s drobo-s)
